If I Gained The World

Music of the Baroque

“This recording features compositions played on the dedicatory recital held on April 7, 2002. The Waldorf harpsichord used in this recording is a French double manual instrument. The recording includes the works of Domenico Scarlatti, Francois Couperin, Louis Marchand and Johann Sebastian Bach. For this recording the instrument is tuned at Baroque pitch (A = 414 Hz) and the temperament is by Thomas Young from 1800. I endeavored to select compositions for the dedication concert which would feature the tonal resources of the new instrument. The instrument speaks with a disposition of two 8’ choirs of strings, one 4’ choir and a lute or buff stop. The upper manual features one 8’ choir of strings and can be coupled to the lower manual which features an 8'’choir, a 4'’choir and the lute stop. Program notes for each composition on the program are included.”
